My home made jib is 18 sqft and the old Hobbie main is around 43 sqft, total 61 sqft. I had a small rudder and lee board that barely allowed sailing into the wind and so last winters project was building a foil NACA 0012 rudder and a NACA foil 009 lee board with 36 inches in the water. The payoff is I can sail 30 degrees into the wind using a mounted compass to measure that.
