Alright...here's how you make snow shoes. Bend 3/4" ash around the form of your choice. I'd build the form out of 3/4" plywood, the shape can be classic snow shoe or ovoid, whatever you want. Heat the ash using a heat gun, it will bend easily enough. Drill the holes for the catgut (that's right, catgut) which will form the webbing. Next, you sneak into the neighbors yard and wait for them to let kitty out...when kitty passes by you jump and grab her (wear thick leather gloves, those claws hurt like the dickens)...once you have subdued kitty, then you...(censored by site management). After the binding as attached the shoes are ready for the ultimate test - strap 'em on and go out walking. The fur-lined gaiters should keep your ankles well insulated against the cold.
