In Response To: Material: ideal MC for white oak (John Oetting)

: what do people think is the ideal moisture content for white oak used in
: steam bending (will be for ribs; probably around 3/8 thick by 1-1/4 wide)?
: is 10-15% too low?

Don't worry about the moisture content, it really doesn't matter. As Joy pointed out, grain orientation is far more important to getting good results.

What are you building? The rib size you specify is much larger than necessary for a kayak.
