Strip: restoring cedar north canoe

i am restoring a cedar strip with a bit of wet rot. it is drying. the lay up are will be 20 feet x 45 inches at the widest section. i will be using epoxy. have yet to decide if a layer of 6 ounce kevlar will go on first, or two layers of 6 ounce glass. i've been told to lay one whole piece-45 inches, the whole length. then move right on to the second layer. is there any reason not to lay two halves, overlapped lengthwise? this will be easier to do alone. can anyone advise, one piece over halvsies? i have a space, radiant heated, more or less 65 degrees, dry, (northern mn, december)to work in. timing will make it difficult to have help on the layup.
