It doesn't have to be real rice paper. The flimsy paper that sometimes comes with new shoes is OK. White gift wrapping tissue will also work or the paper that is used to separate sheets of overhead projector film. Lot's of alternatives to true rice paper will work but it's a good idea to do a test of how it will look under the epoxy and glass before you do it on your boat. You can tape the leading edge of the flimsy paper to a sheet of regular printer paper to avoid a nasty paper jam if you're using a printer.
