John,
Thanks for the concern. We don't take any chances, we bug out before any 'mandatory' evacuations are called for. If Ike had been 30 miles west, we would have looked like the Boliver peninsula and the death toll would have been in the 1000's. Hate to mention the obvious, but there were about 20,000 Darwin award candidates who stayed on the island. Most don't even realize how lucky they were.
We faired pretty well in the wake of Ike. No damage to the Kayaks!! they were in my sheds and only got a little water in one cockpit. Our downstairs garage was a mess. Picture shows what happens to an unkempt garage when inundated with 4 feet of sea water.

we were without lights and water until Oct. 3rd. Stayed with friends from the 13 until then. we were also without internet until 4 days ago. Finally catching up on some of the cleaning, but have a lot to do. the link below shows some before/after picture of our recent efforts.
