Hello everyone. I’m just getting into this. I have been reading and researching a lot over the last few months. I bought Nicks book as well as the Boat Building manual. I think the more I read and the more I think, the more confused I become…..
Anyway, just a few questions….
I have just finished lofting the Great auk from Nick’s book and wow was it boring/time consuming. At first it was a bit complicated but, soon I was drawing out the lines and figuring it all out!
Now that I’m done with that madness, I’m looking forward to getting my hands dirty.
I’m trying to figure out board feet needed to complete the yak.
Nick’s book says that I would need 1,222 ft of ¾” cove and bead strips.
How can I recalculate this to board feet or figure out how many 3/4 “ thick boards I would need?
I’m not entirely new to wood working and I understand how to calculate bdft but, for some reason I can’t figure this out????
Any help would be greatly appreciated and I’m looking forward to sharing my build with everyone here!
