Hi all,

Received this email from Fort Worden today. They are having a meeting on future developement of the park. I'd love to see a yurt village put in the park. They also need group camping areas (for R2K).

Here's a synopsis of the park:

Fort Worden State Park and Conference Center is a 434-acre multi-use park with over two miles of saltwater shoreline and a wide variety of services and facilities. The park rests on a high bluff overlooking Puget Sound. Many historic buildings remain at this 19th century military fort.

Here's the info:

Dear Fort Worden State Park Stakeholder,

You are invited to a public meeting on long range planning for Fort Worden State Park. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Fort Worden Commons Company A room.

For the past nine months, State Parks has been continuing work on long-range plans for Fort Worden State Park. This phase includes preparation of a:

· Site and Facilities Use and Development Plan to guide use of the park and its many historic buildings, as well as guiding potential new construction;

· Design Guidelines to guide treatment of historic structures and landscapes within the Fort Worden National Historic Landmark; and a

· Business and Operations Implementation Plan to guide program development, operation, and financial management of the envisioned life-long learning center concept for Fort Worden.

At the meeting, agency staff will present and ask your input on updated preliminary planning recommendations originally distributed on May 28, 2008. We hope to post the updated preliminary recommendations on the project webpage about a week before the July 8th meeting if at all possible, and the latest the day of the July 8th meeting. We will send a follow-up email to let you know when the documents have been posted.

The project web page is: http://www.parks.wa.gov/plans/ftworden2/

After the meeting we will continue welcome your input via mail/e-mail through August 1, 2008.

If you cannot attend the meeting,

If you have any questions, require special accommodations to attend the meeting, or if you want copies of the updated preliminary recommendations by U.S. Mail, please contact:
