Put retractable skegs in our Guillies a few weeks back. For those thinking this sacrilege, sorry. For the more open-minded lot, WOW!!!, what a difference. With skeg dropped, the boat(s) track like an arrow, regardless of wind direction/velocity. Skeg up, and they'll turn on themselves, just like normal.

We did a 5+ mile open water jaunt on Lake Erie a couple weeks ago, 10/20 knot tailwind and 4'+ waves. W/O the skegs, I'm not sure we could have done it in the Guillies.

I've rigged up temporary sliders using notched PVC pipes. Works well, but it remains inside the cockpit. Will want to convert to an external deck mounted control device so the skeg can be operated w/ spray-skirt in place. Just looking for ideas and what others have come up with.
