Other: electric pump system in roto molded

Hi all,
I've just been given 3 12v gel batteries by my son. They were no good for computer backup anymore as rejected by the UPS.
Question 1) Will they still do for electric pump in kayak purposes.
Question 2) I have a friend with a rotomolded kayak. The seat is molded in and you can't get behind it. It has a front bulkhead and hatches fore and aft. He wants an electric pump system. Where would you put it and how would you attach it? Anyone got any suggestions.
I can only think of attaching by means of bolts and straps or casing through the front bulkhead, but then you run the danger if you shoot off the foot braces of smashing the lot e.g. in the surf.
