: Here is an interesting design that I recently completed - it was designed by
: and built for Robert Livingston (many of you know of him through his
: Bearboat Pro boat design software). He has incorporated some (thinking out
: of the box) features with this boat that are provoking and unique.
: Robert's pedigree includes having a hand in the design of the Mariner
: Coaster (and we all know how well received that kayak is).
: Anyway, building it required some tricky stripping. I've included a link for
: those who wish to view it a bit further.

So Joe! At last the sarcophagus is ready for launching. It is nice to see the finished result after those earlier tantalising photos.

Nice big photo too. it looks really fine on my 30 inch mac monitor.

Assuming the plimsol line on the huI is accurate I would guess it is impossible to capsize, unless loose cargo gets into the sarcophagus, in which case it may be impossible to right again. Just when one thinks everything has been done a new innovation comes on the scene.

It will be interesting to hear about handling. Presumably you can really crank this boat over on its side. Is there a possibility that the boat has been designed to perform a carving turn in surf? If not, a couple of strategically places small fins at lifting angles below the transom wings just above the waterline may do the trick.

I suppose when you have built as many boats as you obviously have this sort of departure is to be expected.

Thanks for the interesting diversion. It has been worth the wait. I am sure we are all keen to hear about performance and handling.

Etienne
