: Anyone spraying varnish? I spray most of my finishs on furniture when
: possible. Just received a gift of a larger air compressor that needed some
: work. Just got it going so I can switch over to HVLP conversion gun(s). I
: was thinking about spraying the kayaks I am building now. Never sprayed
: varnish though.

I don't spray it, I've tried but it's tricky. The guys that I've talked to that have alot of sucess doing it use it hot, ie: heated. Otherwise it has to be thinned so much it's usually full of runs and sags. I've not tried it hot though so if you wanna try, don't do it the first time on a boat :)

Some guys, with better equipped shops than me have sprayed two part varnishes, but then you get into the isocyanate issue with a material you can't breath and need a supplied air respirator to apply it.

Easier to roll it :)
