Strip: Knee Brace Thoughts *Pic*

The other day while looking at my Romany, it finally occurred to me that the coaming riser follows the shape of the cockpit cut-out, which includes the knee braces. This creates a deeper section on the coaming, which is something that I always thought should be avoided. So, I talked to a few other NDK owners and the consensus is that none of us have really noticed any leak problems because of this. Picture of a NDK Explorer below with the same type of coaming.

So, that got me thinking and it seems to me that it would be easier to build knee braces into a cockpit just by cutting the cockpit opening shaped for knee braces, build the riser up, and add the coaming lip. There would be no issues with trying to figure out how to fiddle around later to get knee braces into the boat. I wish I would have thought of this earlier, because I would have tried it on my current build. I'm going to do this on my next build, a Siskiwit LV.

Anyone try this before or have thoughts?
