: Dave: Once again, beautiful boat.

: I've just come up from my semi-boat so I've thought up a question and a
: request, if I may. First, what was your reason for choosing a rear deck
: closure? And would you be able to take a couple of pictures of the coaming
: closures at the front and back and how they work? I think I'm
: over-thinking this, but I think that this is an important detail in
: staying relatively dry.

: Did I say nice boat? :)
Hi Sean - Thanks!

For all who may wonder, the zipper is there so you can get the skin off.

I chose a rear deck closure (over a front deck closure) because I rarely stab the stern of a kayak into a wave, but I do it all the time with the bow - so I thought a closure aft would be less apt to leak. Also, I definitely didn't want to be looking at that flap in front of me all the time.

The coaming closures are also velcroed flaps. The aluminum tubing is permanently attached, but comes apart at the centerline (so you can fold the skin). Th flap is glued to one side, with the velcro overlapping the gap. I sewed the matching velcro piece to piece of PVC and glued that to the other side. Viola!
