Ocean vs Keyhole cockpits

All sea kayaks had ocean cockpits for quite a while. The British invasion brought in kayaks with Ocean cockpits. Americans introduced large cockpits into sea kayaks because Ocean cockpits made some buyers nervous and it made entree and exiting tougher. I don't mean in the water but on the beach. A large cockpit is more newbee friendly for sales on the beach. WW cockpits were ocean at one time but made the transition over to large oval fairly early as WW boats became an american pastime along with wet exits. Now there's not many Oceans left - Betsy Bay, Impex OI, Anas, Boreal, Azul, Greenlander, Wlderness Arctic Hawk. People who paddle ocean cockpit kayaks are really cool which is the main reason to do it.
