: Several of you have posted recently about your paddle making experiences;
: perhaps some of you could tell us what wood you used (or decided NOT to
: use) and why. Weight, strength, appearance, feel, workability, durability,
: availability... what were your determining factors?

I know its not a Greenland but I used the levtover from a cockpit cutout for the blades (CedarStrip). Shaft is yellow pine and mahogany. I have used it for about 12 years now with the occasional touch up.

A friend of mine has used rope soaked in epoxy resin laid into a cove around the edge of the blade for added abrasion resistance. apperently it works very well.
