Strip: Recessed Deck Fitting & Questions *Pic*

I am making recessed deck prototype fittings to see what works for me. I am going to put my fitting in the deck before I fiberglass so I can sand it off flush and have the walnut outer ring show. The first one I made had a lip to catch on the underside of the deck but I have decided that isn’t necessary and just extra work so I will put a small epoxy radius on the under deck side for extra strength after the fitting has been epoxied in place. These are really simple to make.

I take a 7/8” Fostner drill bit and drill a starter hole 1/8” deep in a 7/8” board. Then I take a 1 3/8” saw hole drill bit and it centers automatically into the Fostner bit hole, and I drill down until the 1 3/8" starter guide drill bit part comes through the board. Then with the Fostner bit I finish the 7/8” hole to about 1/8” from the bottom of the board. Then turn the board over, and finish cutting the 1 3/8” dia piece out. I lay this cylinder sideways in the long slot hole in the drill press table and drill my hole for the brass rod. The guide hole in the bottom will have to be filled.

Now the question. Somewhere I have seen a bungee cord system that looks like it had two regular bungee cords in parallel to each other with the area in between having a finer net like bungee cords, kind of like a hair net. If anyone actually understands what I mean can you tell me where I might buy this?

Thank you,
John
