Strip: fiberglass layers on hull

I am building a One Ocean Storm LT and am close to fiberglassing the hull. I have 6 oz E cloth, and am trying to decide on just one layer of 6oz or a sceond "football" patch over that on the bottom of the hull. My 2 Pygmy's only have one layer, but do have a 2" rub strip down the keel. Any suggestions, and if it is recommended, how do I do 2 layers?
Thanks!
