Material: Radiata (Monterey) Pine, is it any good

Hi all
does anyone have any experience building with radiata pine (also known as Monterey pine because it comes from around there). It is about 25% heavier than WRC but where I live (Australia) it is about 1/8th the price. The timber is plantation, and although often knotty it is easy to select clear boards (and is available in very long lengths at no price premium). Over here it is used for framing in home building and in cheap furniture.
cheers
David
