: I'm doing the 16' Merganzer kayak and cut the hatches from the strip deck
: prior to attaching the deck to the hull. Once the hull was attached the
: hatch covers, which are already glassed, no longer conform to the bend in
: the deck. The bow hatch is significantly out of alignment.

: My question is how do I get these glassed and epoxied hatch covers to bend
: into the shape of the hull?

: Thank you for any help you can give me.

If you force the hatch cover in place and use ribs to hold it there, you will pay sometime
in the future with white "stressed glass spots" popping up on a hot day.

You can remove any force and easily reshape the hatch cover by sanding off the glass on the interior
3-6" center of the hatch cover. This will allow you to reshape the cover and reglass the interior without
ribs and without worry on what might pop-up on a hot day.

All the best,
