On occasion, I've mentioned a place in West Warwick, RI, called Builder's Surplus...they always have long lengths of clear pine, but lately they have clear fir- 1" x4" in lengths to 18' for $.49/linear foot; 5/4 mahogany (forgot the price); 2" x 6" x 12' mahogany @ $1.75/ft; lots of 1x red cedar -but is has lots of knots. This place is hit or miss with its selections of wood, but if you are in the area, it might be worth your while for stuff that can be used for the frame on a SOF, mast for a small boat, or rub rails. One time (and one time only!) they had a ton of alaskan yellow cedar 5/4 clear decking cheap. but it got scoffed up quickly.
