In Response To: Strip: Glass hull or strip deck? (Scott G)

: I am in the process of stripping a S.S. and have a question as to pros &
: cons of glassing the hull before removing it for the strong back vs.
: removing after the hull is stripped, strip the deck then do the sanding
: and glassing thing. Any opinions?
: Thanks

By glassing the hull first, you'll learn glassing on the bottom, so any problems or
small errors will be less visible. Then you'll do much better glassing the deck

You'll see how tight your strip joints really are, how good your sanding is
and what the wood color will be.

The lessons learned will help with all the choices and as you work on the deck.

Glassing the hull will protect the soft wood from dents and bruises. If you do not glass
the hull, the potentual for damage is very good from accidental incounters with moving
objects and people as you work on the deck.

Can you guess? I like glassing the hull first.

All the best,
