You've got good advice so far. I would certainly check what the others have said first. Only some of the high dollar routers...like Porter Cable, and others...are worth trying to have repaired...and sometimes not even then. I use a lot of skil tools and get good service from them. Most of them are the "run it till it breaks" kind...and then throw it away and buy another. Just as an example...I have a belt sander that cost $120 to get repaired. List price on the sander was near $600. You can find them for under $500. The price, quality, and utility of that belt sander made it worth while to have repaired. Oh...and the sander will last several lifetimes. It is now over 40 years old. One of the small Porter Cable routers is sweet...and it is possible to get one for just over $100.
