Strip: Abrasion Patches

What are your current practices with putting a second layer of cloth on the outer hull? I'm using 6 oz cloth on inner & outer hull, and I've already put 4" by 3' abrasion patches on the bow and stern. I'm trying to decide if I want to put another 6 oz layer on the bottom of the hull (to within a few inches of the chine - the boat is a Night Heron so it has fairly hard chines).

I don't see myself playing in rock gardens although I occasionally encounter (and mostly avoid) submerged ledges. However I want to learn to play in the surf with the boat.

Thanks.
Wes
