: Most of the voids are too small to fill with putty. My current plan is to
: seal the hull with a coat of epoxy followed by a fill coat for the voids
: (which I will allow to tack up) before applying the glass. If anyone has a
: more aesthetic technique to share it would be greatly appreciated.

In his book on strip-built canoes Gil Gilpatrick recommends using your epoxy to fill these gaps. Paint on your seal coat as soon as your epoxy is well mixed. Then wait until the epoxy starts to "kick". You don't need any additives, so the resin should stay clear. Once it starts to polymerize, the rapidly thickening epoxy will fill up your voids and not run off or puddle up. You don't get a lot of time to work with this stuff, so try to plan ahead, and put it on thicker than you need, if you must. You can scrape or sand back to a level, fair, surface after the resin hardens some more.

Hope this helps
