: Probably the first line ever spoken by Eve was when she (possibly) said:
: "Adam dear, are you missing any ribs?" This must have come as a
: response to that famous palindrome: "Madam, I'm Adam"
: I bring up this ancient conversation at this time, for after looking at your
: photos I wonder if perhaps your boat should have a few more ribs to
: support the stringers, and of course to support the skin which is mostly
: carried on the stringers. Other boats in this style which I have seen, or
: seen photographs of, have about 3 or maybe 4 times the number of ribs that
: your boat seems to have, and those ribs are fairly closely spaced.
: Just wondering at the engineering at work here, and thought I'd ask for some
: enlightenment. Thanks.

Paul the yak is 14 foot 11 inches. probably about 12 feet of "ribable" space. Is that a word? There are 15 ribs. I believe 5 deck beams and the masic. That means along the gunwales there is something every 6.8 inches. By the way the ribs are ash 1 1/8 by 1/4 inch. Full thickness through the the bend as well. The captain weighs 140 lbs. and has a size 10 shoe. He is 11 years old. I am hoping he will get 2 years service out of it then pass it along to my 6 year old.
Keep building, Elliott
