Epoxy: Carbon fiber combing question

I'm trying to do a composite combing and was going to put a few layers of carbon fiber (5.7oz) in it for stiffness and looks. However, I cant seem to get the cloth to lay down around the curves the way that 6oz fiberglass cloth will... It always pulls away from the vertical riser part of the combing.
I have the cloth cut on a bias but it just doesn't want to work for me. Does anyone have any creative solutions? I tried covering it with plastic wrap, but I just got wrinkles and bubbles... Help!
