GOOD point. The only reason for the hybrid deck is appearance and it's been a lot more work. The pic of the hybrid Merganser on the Shearwater site was part of the inspiration to build these two as hybrids. But I think it's more of a challenge to keep the weight down, etc. etc. The standard decks on both the Merganser and Cirrus are attractive, especially IMHO, on the Cirrus.
