Strip: Bulk head question

I am building my second stripped kayak. On the first I used mini cell foam for the bulkheads. On this one I was going to use stripped panels. I remember past discussions about rigid panels versus flexible panels and though there was some discussion about forces to the bottom on the kayak being transfered more evenly with foam, the conclusion seemed to be that it didn't matter one way or another. But today I read that the foam bulk heads help in flotation of a swamped kayak. I have begun to reconsider going back to foam bulkheads inspite if increased expense. Any ideas?

thanks
