Epoxy: Tiny Bubbles

After the second coat of epoxy (on my bulk heads) I noticed surface bubbles. These are less than visually pleasing and have led to a few questions before epoxying the hull and deck.

1. What caused them? (they were not visible prior to the curing process)

2. What is the best way to get rid of them?

3. How can I decrease the possiblity of bubbles when the hull and deck are given a second coat?

I have read Nick's book and the instructions that came with the epoxy (Raka).
These directions were followed closely (read it all numerous times, last being immediately prior to the second coat), and despite this, bubbles. First-timer mistake I imagine. :)
