Skin-on-Frame: Alternative Skin Material

As long as I am stiring up the pot. Has anyone ever considered pond liner for use as a skin. It is waterproof, tough, flexible, durable and can be easily glued and repaired. I'll will admit it is not as cheap as some other materials.

Also, forgive me if my books that have not yet arrived cover this, but what am I to do with the wrinkles that will inevitably appear as I wrap the cover around the curved section of the hull. Do I spread out the excess and make a lot of little wrinkles or gather them together and make one large fold.
