Strip: Hot-glued deck separated from hull *LINK* *Pic*

On my 17 ft Sea Spirit I finished stripping the deck using staple-less construction. Now the deck that was hot glued to the forms had to be removed. Whacking them with a sledgehammer from the coaming cutout would require the forms to move in the direction of a narrower space. I had used a lot of hot glue in some places and whacking toward a narrower space didn’t appear to be working to well. I also have a sheer clamp installed, which inhibited forms from being tilted backward. Instead I chose to first remove some of the hot melt glue and then cut the forms into sections before I whacked away at them. This way I could also pull on them if need be. The forms in the flat deck areas were more easily separated by slipping a spatula and saw blade underneath the deck and cutting away the hot melt glue holding them to the forms. It may have been the wimpy way to do it, but turned out well.

You can see more photos of the deck separation at http://www.seaspiritkayaks.com/SSS17/007_Glass_Deck/sss17sepdeckframe.htm
