Epoxy: Life w/o Pumps *LINK*

Greetings:

I have gallon jugs of epoxy and hardener on hand, plus a boat project now at the gluing stage. But what I do not have is a pair of pumps for the epoxy jugs. I am due to receive my pumps soon, but in the meantime I would very much like to proceed. Thus my question to the more experienced hands:

How best to mete out epoxy without making a great mess, assuming no pumps? I have a gallon jug of white vinegar on hand, lots of paper towels, but still...
