the "clean" part of the cut is determined by the blade mostly. match your blade to the size of the stock and the type of work you are doing: ripping, cutting plywood, etc.

As for a straight cut, that is easy with almost any saw if you use a guide.

The advantages of the worm drive saw are the longevity of the motor, the torque, and the design of the saw which permits a right handed carpenter to see the line they are cutting along without having to hunch over the saw. Some of these advantages are true for only some users, though.
