: PS What's an Explorer? Is it someone's S&G kayak design or a SOT or ???
Scott
Explorer is a Hans Friedel design sold through Newfound Woodworks. I paddled one at the Newfound Rendezvous in Sept. It's a 16' medium volume boat. Paddles nicely tracks well. I ordered a hull kit and will do the hybrid deck and coaming etc on my own. I don't really like the "jigsaw puzzle" look of Newfound's hull, I'm painting it anyway. My daughter has a creative Idea for the hull, The boat's for her, so we'll see!
Thinking about tinting the glass in the coaming instead of carbon powder or toner. Thanx for the link to the tinting supplies. Will post when I get underway.
As for Raka's 5oz glass, I did the Guillemot with it and had absolutely no trouble. (Weave or Wetout)
