Epoxy: Epoxy vs. Yellow glue for stems

Hey. Regarding strippers, I've read many times that the general practice is to use yellow glue for bonding the strips together (which I'm doing). But, I've only read once or twice that you should use epoxy for the stems. It's going to all get covered with fiberglass, so I'm confused regarding why I need to use epoxy rather than yellow glue for the external stems. I need an education - what's the deal here?
