Strip: Sanding The Exterior Epoxy

My hull and deck are mated and I've sanded the exterior seam in preparation for the seam tape. I've lightly sanded into the glass in numerous places ... I apparently didn't apply quite enough epoxy when I glassed the exterior.

Once the exterior seam tape is applied and I start to sand the hull prior to varnishing, I'm sure I'm gonna lightly sand into the glass. What do I do about it ... and how do I do it?

My plan was to level the epoxy by sanding down all the high spots as completely as possible. If I start to sand into the glass ... I'll stop immediatly and move on to another area. At this stage the surface should be smooth but will have numerous places where I've lightly sanded into the weave. Next I'll roll on 2 more coats of resin and sand again. That should do it.

Is this the correct procedure?

Thanks!

Ken
