The last batch of resin and hardner I got was System 3 and I got all fast hardner -- I have everything except patience or a warm shop. I finished one kayak with it and did one canoe. It worked fine for six ounce cloth and was a little thick for four ounce cloth but it worked. It was a real hussle doing the inside of the canoe by myself. My shop, without heat, goes to the sub freezing temperatures day or night and I glass at 60 - 75 degrees. The material did crystalize far easier than West Systems so had to be kept in the house. I manage three coats in a day with it so it has the speed I want. Incidently, small quantities set up much slower than large quantities. The only other problem with it is that I have been told it is more suseptible to blush although I had no problems that way. I was quite satisfied with clarity as well. I have not used the medium hardner so do not know what the comparison would be, I just know I would not be happy with anything slow.
good luck

: I am beginning an S&G for my wife and am having difficulty deciding which
: hardener to use. My workspace gets up to 60 degrees in the day and has
: been dropping to 50 degrees at night. I use System Three and was sent
: hardener #2. It's minimum cure temperature is 55 degrees. I like the
: extended pot life of the hardener #2, but I question whether I will get
: enough cure overnight or when temps fall a bit more. My only concern with
: the hardener #1 is shorter pot life (especially in a small container such
: as a syringe).
: Does anyone have experience with System Three's hardener #1 at application
: temps maxing at 60 degrees and overnight temps falling to 50 or slightly
: below.
: Thanks for any assistance.
