Rob,

I was asking about the cover for your watertight compartment in the cockpit. What type of cover and closure system did you use on it?
I am definatly going to put a knee tube/watertight compartment in my kayak, I was thinking of Beckson hatch plates, but am looking for other ideas.

We are in the same boat(bad choice of words) with respect to weather conditions, rivers are frozen but no snow to ski. Gave me time to build a rink in the backyard for the kids. 32'x48' complete with boards...GAME ON!!!

I picked up the maps and GPS for my planned Winnipeg River Trip, still 6 months away and I'm starting to get pumped. I want to sit down and figure out milages etc. so I can determine a suitable take out location. I don't want to set a fast high milage pace because the fishing and the scenery is great and I want to take my time and see all there is to see, maybe do a few side hikes into lakes that are near the river route.

Well, I have to go look in on my fungi, I'm in the lab tonight

Thanks,

Ken

: The hatches are S&G and came with the kit. The seal is a soft rubber many
: ridged weather stripping about 1/4 in. wide and 1 mm thick that is contact
: cemented on. There are two rows of strippingm, one on the edge of the
: hatch and one on the edge of the opening. The seal is very effective so
: far. I have not had the opportunity to test it in high seas but I can hope
: to do that next summer. I can't wax the skis yet (x-c) coz the snow melted
: yet the river remains iced up :( . I guess there is always some good
: downhill at Jasper or Lake Louise ;) I cuold also spend the winter
: rebuilding the old kayak. :)
