Hi All,

I got a response from Fort Worden with regard to camping for R2K3:

Shawn,

To request 10 sites, the following applies:

Your reservation request may be made either:

***in-person, up to 4 mths in advance (May 1st for August res) OR ***on paper, up to 5 mths in advance (April 1st for August res). Paper requests include mail, fax, and online. For online, go to www.fortworden.org, click on Camping, scroll to Reservations, click on e-mail form.

When making a group reservation, it is VERY helpful to include the last names of the adults that will be in each site. With that information, we can set up the res so that each campsite guest can check themselves in (rather than everyone waiting for you to arrive).

There is a $7 non-refundable advance reservation fee for EACH campsite reserved. The deposit needed to confirm a reservations is the $7 fee plus the cost of the first night of camping ($22 as of today, rates may change). The online site is secure and if you include credit card info, the correct deposit amount will be processed. You may also choose to pay the deposit when we bill you for the deposit.

At each campsite, you may have: ***one recreation vehicle (a sleeping vehicle) ***up to 2 extra, non-rec, vehicles at $6 each per night. The extra vehicles MUST physically fit into the hard-surface footprint of the campsite. We do not guarantee that 2 extra vehicles will fit in a campsite. ***up to 4 tents, which must physically fit into the footprint of the campsite. We do not guarantee that 4 tents will fit in a campsite.

Thank you for your inquiry. We look forward to hosting your group!

Please feel free to contact us if you have questions.

So, I can personally reserve 10 sites at a cost of $29 per site ($7 reservation + $22 for first night's camping). You will need to pay for your second night at a cost of $22 (plus extra adults [$2], and vehicles [$6]) when you check in.

I will reserve the first 10 sites requested (6-15) [sorry Dale!] on my credit card. When I get confirmation that they've gone through (i.e. the $290 is billed to my CC), I would like to get a check for $29 for each site within a week of posting a notification to this BBS in April.

If this arrangement isn't amenable to anyone, feel free to request your own site (I'll leave "your" site number out of my request, and you can possibly still get the same spot on your own) and I'll include Dale (#11 request) on my request April 1.

I also plan to request only Friday night and Saturday night. If you want to request additional nights, (Bill?) let me know on the KayakWiki table. I'll email Fort Worden today to see if I can request different nights for different sites.

See you all at the Rendezvous, if not sooner!!! This is but a minor hassle, and it will all be worth it if we get to camp together!!

Shawn
