Rick:

I've got the last two strips left in the hull of in a Guillemot17. Hopefully that'll get done this weekend. BTW, I wouldn't have made it this far without the encouragement of this board. I'm trying to get some pics and will tell more about this later.

For my birthday (38, my wife thinks I should take up something more sedate) last week I got a brandy new Lie-Neilson low angle block plane (can you believe that my dad thinks I'm that good of a son?). Well of course I couldn't resist doing some fairing on the as yet unfinished hull with that new plane. Those ridges near the beginning and end of the chine radius disappeared with a few sweeps of the plane. So I don't think you have anything to worry about there.

This being my first stripper, I've got plenty of those smaller holes you refer to, especially near the stems. I've started trying to glue similar colored slivers or plane shavings into those spots and sand them down later. This works well sometimes and poorly the rest of the time. Like you, I'm looking for some better ways to deal with them.

In any case, I'm sure your boat will be perfect.

Cheers,

Rob
