They should work just fine.

But with a flat hatch sealing against a flat bulkhead, and in a spot where the fittings are not visible, they are simply more expensive than you need. A bolt and a "T" nut are faster to install and simple to use.

Of course, everyone knows a boat is just a hole in the water that you throw money into, so I would not be able to convincingly argue against spending more money on such a thing. :)
