Material: Elastomer/Nylon Failure - SOS

Well, after I launched successfully and brought my SOF home, I put it in the cradle out in the back yard for a couple more "insurance" coats of elastomer. What should I discover but that the paint had easily peeled off the nylon where it abraded against the yakima supports. It wasn't just the most recent coat, but all coats, revealing the weave of the fabric clearly.

I thought it had penetrated the 8oz. nylon very well, but it hadn't.

Now what? I can't trust another coat - the same underlying problem will still aply. I'm wondering if I should try to peel the elastomer all off and try another paint? Surely I won't have to reskin!?

Wondering also if I needed to have used the elastomer primer. What puzzles me is that my trial patches worked just great, but in reality it didn't (reality chaps me something fierce!).

Any and all ideas for possible solutions are welcome!

TIA,
Wayne
