Tools: Best type of saw for strip building

I am wondering, what is the best saw for strip bulding and for what particular purpose? I am at a point in building a stripper now where I have to make some long mitres and I'd like to know if there is any particular advantage (or problems) to using a Ryobi or Dozuki? Would a (easily available) dovetail saw do? Does the steel back on a dozuki get in the way? Should I buy a dozukimi (small dozuki)? Whatever I buy has to be by mail order so I don't have the advantage of checking them out first at a local store. I believe in buying the right tools and buying them once. Any help would be appreciated.
