Material: Strip width - how wide is too wide?

I bought some rough cut Cypress for the football area of my hull, and perhaps to use a little bit on the rest of my boat in addition to the WRC. Being rough cut, it's not 3/4". Some of it is a full 1" and some is actually 1-1/8". How wide is too wide? Is it totally dependant on how well it bends, or are there other considerations? I'm trying to figure out if I should slice them narrower before I put the Bead and Cove on them. I'm also concerned that at that width, it will look a little "funny" when the rest of the boat is 3/4". Any words of wisdom?
