Rick, start with your size and intended use,,,THEN start shopping. www.paddling.net reviews is a beginning. Fourpanel (hard-chine) hulls are common in stitch and glue but that doesn't mean that design is the "best", it's simply the easiest given the materials and time and cost available. There is quite a range of barely acceptable to very good in that range,,,based on criteria that may not matter to you. For the time and cost of building a little research is a good idea.
