Sorry for these off topic photos, but I figured maybe someone would find these carvings interesting. This was a long weekend for me (four days) and I found myself tinkering in my attic (shop) with kayaks dancing in my head. I started carving with a big knife on a scrap piece of cedar, and before I knew it, I was laminating all kinds of recycled wood together to build blanks from which to carve. I'm facinated with wood, and what it can look like. Laminating wood then slicing or grinding into it is a rush. But once you apply a finish... WOW!!!
Most of these are finished with pure Tung Oil, but some are epoxied and others varnished. The beltsander soon became the tool of choice, and I just couldn't STOP. I'm not putting off starting my Cirrus, just occupying my time until my wife comes to the realization that I'm about to start another project. :D
