Hello everyone,
Today was milestone #1 for my kayak project. I finished cutting the panels and was able to lay the bottom and side pieces in the cradles for a preview of what's to come. I am really excited now that I can see the basic shape of my boat and actually have this thing in my backyard to touch! The weather today was beautiful (compared to the past few weeks of on and off again rain and wind) so I took advantage of it and worked with the tarp off of my temporary enclosure (PVC hoop structure). The wind had knocked it down last week but I was prepared for it. I now have it back up and braced well since I am more aware of the weak points. You really can't beat it for ease of construction and at $20 it was easy on the wallet too. So now I can remove my pieces, drill my holes and begin to stitch this thing together. My tentative schedule was to be stitching and glueing by Thanksgiving and if I keep up the pace I should be. Thanks to everyone posting for such a wealth of information and inspiration to draw from. Now if I can keep my wife from filling the unfinished thing with dirt and planting flowers in it I'll be doing fine.

Later,

Tony
