I have one of the fancy staple removers from a stationary store (Stanley-Bostitch Model G27W) like Nick suggests, however, I found it much easier to just grab them with a pair of needle nosed pliers. This works fine and does not damage the wood and it was pretty fast. I had problems with the removers leaving a mark on the wood.
