Hi Bill,

Thanks for your input. I agree with you thoughts I was also very impressed with the strength and stiffness of the 1/8 when glassed on both sides on my Baidarka. Due to the fact that this boat is being built as a workhorse for duckhunting in the marsh, we have decided to a laminate, 2 X 1/8 for the bottom, as Paul suggested. Jim(my buddy who is building the boat) will be more concerned with getting to where the ducks are then worrying about babying his boat, and if he's worried about the extra weight, I'll tell him to go on a diet.

Thanks again for your response.

Ken

: I'll take the opposite view. I built a Merganser (Eric Shade design) out of
: 1/8 door skins that were not the greatest quality. In spite of that, after
: glassing inside and out with 6oz glass it is very stiff and strong. I
: should note that I used 3" wide 9oz tape on all interior seams, and
: the 6oz was applied on top of that.

: Good luck,

: Bill
